WWII Variant Sterling Major General Aide Insignia

Single pin back sterling silver collar insignia for an aide to a major general. The insignia is a very unusual variant in that the eagle and all other aspects of the insignia design that are normally rendered in gold are, on this example, silver. There is no indication that this insignia ever had a gold finish of any kind.
