WWII U.S. Army Special Services Phonograph Player

$425.00

A World War II record player used by the Army Special Services Division, which was responsible for, among other things, entertainment and recreational activities for the troops in the United States and the theaters of combat operations. The phonograph player is in exceptional condition, contained within an olive green case with leather carrying handle. The tone arm, which holds the needle, is somewhat stiff and needs to be oiled to flow smoothly on the record when it is playing. The unit is crank powered. The crank is present in the case. When the unit is cranked and the switch activated, the turn table rotates smoothly. The unit has extra needles in a compartment on the turn table. It comes with a World War II period record of music, titled as a “V Disc”, and produced by the Special Services Branch. Approximately 17 by 16 by 7 1/2 inches in size.
