The exterior wool body of the cap exhibits some spots and surface soiling, but it is without holes, damage or repairs. The cap body is without any stiffener in the crown. The single ply brown leather visor is quite pliable. The interior lining is intact, with the leather sweatband being present and bearing the
“Flighter” brand designation of the Bancroft Company. The underside of the sweatband bears the handwritten name of “Silverman”, and it also bears a handwritten number which appears to begin with “0-877” and the rest of the number (presumably the officer’s service number of the owner) is indistinct. Overall the cap exhibits great character and it makes an excellent appearance.
