WWII Royal Italian Army Brigadier General Tunic and Matching Overcoat

$1,350.00

The army service uniform tunic and the matching overcoat were both tailored by the “Unione Militare” in a fine quality green wool. The tunic has gilt metal stars on the lapels, while the overcoat has bullion stars embroidered on the lapels. The sleeves of both the tunic and the overcoat display the rank insignia of a Brigadier General of the Royal Italian Army, these insignia being machine embroidered in white thread on a green wool base and then sewn to the sleeve cuffs. Above the left breast pocket is a seven place ribbon bar that is sewn to the tunic. This ribbons include the award of the Grand Officer degree of the Italian Order of the Crown as well as the World War I Merit Cross and the 1915-1918 War Medal (interestingly, the Brigadier General did not wear the ribbon of the World War I Interallied Victory Medal, which he almost certainly left off of his uniform so as not to offend the German military officers with whom he came into contact). Both the tunic and the overcoat are fully lined and carry the “Unione Militare” label. The overcoat is a high quality design, with a belted rear and a long rear center slit that is closed with hidden buttons. Both articles are in excellent condition, showing only light wear. They make a very fine appearance, being without holes, repairs, or stains.
