WWII Republic of China Army Officer’s Sword

The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 36 inches in length, with a blade length of approximately 28 inches long. The blade shows surface grime as well as areas of wear to the finish, with the blade having a mottled appearance. The sword has a solid brass guard and backstrap with an imitation tortoise-shell celluloid grip which is wrapped with wire. The grip is without chips or cracks, while the wire is slightly loose but intact. The pierced guard and the knuckle guard and backstrap all have a dark and uncleaned patina. The ferrule bears Chinese kanji. The steel scabbard exhibits grime, wear to the finish, and surface rust. Overall the sword is in good condition.
