The group consists of 31 photographs which range in size from approximately 2-1/2 inches by 3-1/2 inches to 2-3/4 inches to 4-1/4 inches. The photographs depict American G.I.’s on a Japanese airfield which is burning. The images depict burning and destroyed Japanese aircraft, as well as a few in which the aircraft appear to remain largely intact. Some of the photographs depict American G.I.’s with the wreckage, and one photograph shows an American soldier with a captured Japanese flag that is fastened to a rifle.
