WWII Named Painted A-2 Flight Jacket with Unit History

$2,650.00

World War II A-2 flight jacket of Frank L. Berkowitz, an aerial gunner of the 531st Bomb Squadron, 380th Bomb Group, “The Flying Circus.”
The left side of the jacket has the incised leather name tag of “F. Berkowitz”, an embossed leather aerial gunner wing, and a painted leather Walt Disney designed patch for the 531st Bomb Squadron. The right side of the jacket has a cloth “Ruptured duck” discharge emblem sewn to the chest. The reverse of the jacket is painted with “Flying Circus 380th Bomb Group.”
The jacket is in overall very good condition. There is typical cracking to the leather, primarily on the sleeves and the collar edge, with a slight 1 inch tear of the interior collar edge. The leather remains supple and pliable. The zipper pull is missing, the cuffs and waist bands are period replacements.
The jacket is accompanied by a well worn large format hardcover unit history of the 380th Bomb Group, with extensive text and photographs.
