WWII Named Japanese Navy Bread Bag

$235.00

Olive green cotton canvas bread bag of a member of the Japanese Navy. Used, but very good, condition, with some wear to the edges of the shoulder strap and two small holes in the strap. The metal belt clip on the center top of the bag has some rust, as is typical with metal components of gear that was carried in a jungle environment. The bag has extensive kanji writings on the reverse that state “Koshigaya Observation Post” and the name “Okano”.
Koshi-ga-ya is a section of Saitama Prefecture that is just 30km north-west of Tokyo. The observation post therefore may well have been an aerial observation post maintained by the Japanese Navy in response to the bombing attacks on the Japanese mainland.
