WWII Kriegsmarine Soldbuch, Fuhrerschein, & Partial Identity Disk of a Soldier Killed in France July 17, 1944

$225.00

The documents relate to Erich Albrecht, born in 1910, who served in World War II in a Kriegsmarine signals unit. The soldbuch and Fuhrerschein (military driver’s license) both contain his photograph, with the soldbuch containing numerous entries regarding his Kriegsmarine service. The cover of the soldbuch bears a diagonal red line with the handwritten notation “Gefallen 17.7.1944”, indicating that Albrecht was killed on July 17, 1944. The entries in the soldbuch reflect that Albrecht was serving in France in 1944 and so he presumably died in the aftermath of the Allied invasion of Europe in June of 1944. The soldbuch shows wear and age but it is complete and intact, as is the Fuhrerschein. The documents are accompanied by half of an identity disk that bears Albrecht’s name and the number “N 6750/41 E”. Finally, tucked into the soldbuch was a photo postcard of a woman playing with a big scarf as a gymnastic exercise.
