WWII Japanese Soldier’s Identification Disk

World War II Japanese military dog tags did not contain the individual soldier’s personal name; instead, they recorded the unit code and the soldier’s specific roster number within that unit, with master rosters kept securely at higher military headquarters. The right vertical line reads 東１１３５０ (East 11350), which is a wartime “tsushogo” (secret military unit code/code name) used to designate a specific army unit or detachment. The upper middle shows 一中 (1st Company) and the upper left reads 一番 (Number 1 / 1st position/roster number), while the lower characters include 七 (7) and other serial sorting numbers. The brass tag exhibits an uncleaned patina. Very good condition.
