WWII Japanese Navy Photograph Album – Special Naval Landing Forces Photos
$350.00
The album cover indicates that the owner was a “Senior Corporal” and assigned to the Imperial Japanese Navy Destroyer Shimakaze. The album is approximately 9 inches by 12-1/4 inches, and it contains approximately 119 photographs of various sizes. The album contains multiple interesting images of Japanese Special Naval Landing Forces, such as personnel training in the snow; a young man who sits for a portrait photograph while wearing his signed personal good luck flag as a sash; and personnel in a variety of uniforms with multiple types of swords, equipment and settings. Other images are of a family nature, while two photographs depict Emperor Hirohito in civilian clothes. Numerous photographs have handwritten captions in kanji, and two images have paper overlays with writing, apparently identifying individuals in the underlying images. Some pages are missing photos, overall in very good condition.
