WWII Japanese Navy Officer Cold Weather Pile Cap
The wool cap bears the gilt metal Imperial Navy insignia on the front. The cap has a cotton lining that has lost some stitching on the front interior seam but the lining is intact. The interior exhibits soiling from wear. The cap has pile lined ear and chin flaps as well as a separate, pile lined storm flap and pile lined ear covers. The wool exterior body has a few small holes on the left front area. The cord loop which holds the flaps on top of the cap has disintegrated from age, although it could be easily replaced, and the flaps are now secured on top of the cap by a pin. Overall very good field used condition.
