WWII Japanese Model 1883 Naval Officer Dagger
$525.00
The blade shows spots and age, but it is without chips, nicks, or active rust. The blade displays a film of surface grime that would likely respond well to a careful cleaning. The shark skin grip is tightly triple wrapped with brass wire. The grip shows surface soiling throughout. The dagger is a later war example, and the grip is without the brass cherry blossom insignia on the sides. The later war example also lacks the push button release device of earlier daggers. Additionally, the scabbard is covered in a textured leather or fish skin. Most all of the brass components of the dagger, to include the ferrule, pommel, and scabbard fittings, show a toned gilt finish with patina. Overall a very good example of a later war Navy dagger.
