WWII Japanese Battleship Yamashiro Seaman’s Cap

Black wool body with full and complete cap tally around the cap band, the tally identifying a seaman on the Imperial Battleship Yamashiro (“Dai Nippon Gunkan Yamashiro”). The exterior is clean although there is a hole at the back upper edge which had a period repair and where the internal wire stiffener is exposed. The large cloth Navy issue tag is present in the interior. The cap shows signs of wear and use. The cap tally shows some wear but remains completely legible. The cap band is slightly misshapen from storage but is in overall good service used condition.
