WWII Japanese Aviation Officer’s Full Dress Uniform

WWII Japanese army aviation 2nd Lieutenant’s full dress tunic, trousers, kepi, gloves and cased uniform shoulder boards. Group consists of: A) M1894 type full dress frock coat. The black wool, three-quarter length coat has a double-breasted front closure leading to a stand-up collar fastened by dual hooks and eyes. The collar is faced in blue wool, against which is sewn a decorative, gold bullion border. Dual wool loops are sewn to each shoulder to accommodate the shoulder knots . Each of the seven, highly convex, diameter brass buttons to either side of the front closure have a five-lobed cherry blossom embossed to their obverses. Buttons all look to have original stitching. A vertical support loop for the sword is to the left hip, which is fastened at its top by a matching button. Three buttons are sewn to each cuff. Cuffs are complete with their blue wool faces and decorative gilt wire tress. The interior is fully lined in black silk. A horizontal slash pocket to the right breast, and a vertical slash patch pocket to the left breast. Nice Tokyo tailors label. The tunic is in very good conditions with no holes or tears, the blue facings show areas of moth tracking, nothing that is distracting. B) Matching trousers with wide blue wool stripes on the outer seam. C) 2nd Lieutenant’s kepi with red and white feather plume, full interior lining and leather sweatband. The leather visor exhibits a few dents in the finish from storage. D) Fine leather gloves in very good condition. E) Velvet lined nickle plated box for the shoulder knots.
