The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 39 inches, with a blade length of approximately 25 inches. The bright blade shows a few small areas of discoloration, and is without chips, nicks, or rust and has a visible and distinct straight temper line. The unsigned dark tang exhibits 3 holes. The grip is wrapped in the traditional fashion in green fabric over white ray skin, with the standard military menuki of three cherry blossoms beneath the wrapping on each side. The tsuba and fittings are standard Japanese Army regulation. The aluminum scabbard retains about 85% original brown paint.
