WWII Japanese Army Officer Visor Cap

$140.00

A well-worn but very presentable visor cap of a Japanese Army officer. The wool body of the cap shows some relatively minor moth effects, primarily on the red cap band and at a few spots on the red piping. There is some typical age crazing on the leather visor. The cap has a very distinctive shape that attests to its having been been worn in the field. There is some misshaping of the body from storage but the cap displays very well and exhibits tremendous character. The interior leather sweatband shows wear. There are two kanji stitched in red thread on the lining, likely the name of the officer who owned the cap. The artificial silk lining is detached from the body of the cap for about half of its circumference but it is complete and could easily be tacked back into place.
