$1,175.00
The blade is approximately 28 inches long, with an overall length of approximately 40 inches when within the scabbard. The wooden handle is covered in ray skin and wrapped with golden brown fabric in the traditional fashion which shows minor wear. The standard military menuki of three cherry blossoms are beneath the wrap. The sword has an medium brown painted scabbard that shows some wear but on which the original paint is approximately 90% intact. There is a decorative brass metal tsuba with a pierced cherry blossom pattern – heavier than generally encountered. The blade is steel with no edge nicks and no active rust. There is a nice wavy temper line clearly visible on the blade. Overall the blade is bright and in very good condition. The tang beneath the handle is unsigned.
