WWII Japanese Army NCO Type 95 Gunto Sword by Tokyo Arsenal with Matching Numbers

$950.00

The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 38 inches, with a blade length of approximately 26 inches. The blade bears number “95185”, with that same number on the top of the scabbard throat. The number is configured so that it is read with the cutting edge of the blade facing the ground, which is the position that was used by the Tokyo Arsenal (the Nagoya Arsenal, the only other production facility for the Type 95 NCO sword, placed the number in the opposite position, with the number being readable when the cutting edge is facing up). The blade shows some scattered mossy spots and scratches. The painted grip exhibits wear to the surfaces. The tsuba guard is the solid style that it typical of the Type 95 swords. The scabbard retains approximately 70 percent of its olive brown paint. Overall very good field used condition.
