WWII Germany Army Officer Lion Head Sword by E. & F. Horster

The sword has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 39 inches, with a blade length of approximately 33 inches. The blade shows spots and scratches but it is generally quite bright. The ricasso bears the maker mark of the firm of E. & F. Horster. The celluloid grip is without chips or cracks. One strand of the brass wires which were wrapped around the grip is broken and loose. The guard, ferule, knuckle bow, back strap and the lion hear pommel all show a dark and uncleaned patina. The lion head carries two faceted red glass eyes. The gloss black scabbard paint has scuffs, abrasions, and chips. Overall very good condition.
