1936 Postcard Mailed on the First Flight of the Airship “Hindenburg” to North America

The postcard was mailed using one of the special German airmail stamps that were created for the fist flight of the zeppelin “Hindenburg” to North America in 1936. The postcard bears a special cancellation that was placed on the postcard on board the Hindenburg during the flight. The cancellation was made on May 8, 1936, with the flight having taken place from May 6 to May 9, 1936. The postcard also bears a cancellation that was placed on the postcard in New York City on May 9, 1936, upon its arrival and before it was sent on to its recipient in New York City. Very good used condition.
