The M40 combat helmet displays a medium brown tropical camouflage painted exterior that is approximately seventy percent intact, with areas of wear and spots of paint loss. The brown paint exhibits some darker areas of age toning. The helmet camouflage was applied to the exterior and on the interior, up to the liner band. The camouflage paint obscured the helmet size and maker code on the interior rim. The leather helmet liner is intact, while lacking the drawstring as well as the chin strap. Overall the helmet makes a very good appearance and it shows great character.
