WWII German Army General Field Service Warm Weather Tunic
The tunic is constructed of an unlined field gray cotton twill material for wear in warm weather. The tunic has superb insignia for an Army General, to include a gold bullion breast eagle, collar tabs, and sew in shoulder boards, all exhibiting fine age toning. All of the gilt buttons are present, showing period application to the tunic. The tunic shows consistent fading from the sun to all of the exposed areas of the surface, while the areas that were protected from the sun show the original field gray coloration. These include the front placket beneath the closure line; the sleeves inside of the turn back cuffs; the shoulder areas beneath the shoulder boards; the areas underneath the pocket flaps; and the underside of the collar. The tunic shows holes on the rear of the upper right sleeve, which were repaired by stitching matching field gray cotton material to the inside of the sleeve. The top edge of the collar shows the effects of wear, with a light line having been created from wear. Overall the tunic is a classic example of the field service uniform for an Army General, with exceptional and impressive insignia.
