The well – worn helmet shell bears a smooth gloss exterior paint which is approximately eighty percent intact, showing scuffs, abrasions, and spots of surface rust. There is similar wear to the interior of the helmet shell. The helmet liner is a Westinghouse example, which exhibits wear and use to both the exterior and to the interior webbing. The liner has an extra hole in the upper front, likely to permit the attachment of a rank or unit insignia and another on the back of the liner. The helmet lacks the chin strap.
