WWII French Resistance Document, Medal & Insignia Group

A group of documents, insignia, and a medal, all relating to the French Resistance of the Second World War, an organization that was more formally known as the FFI, or the “French Forces of the Interior”. The group is comprised of the following items:
– A large award document, 9 3/4 by 12 1/2 inches in size, recognizing the service of Pierre Marchand in the FFI and given on 18 June, 1945. The document is serial numbered as number 23548.
– The French Resistance Medal, mounted on a French suspension bar. The Resistance medal was awarded to approximately 38,288 living persons and 24,463 posthumously. These awards were both for membership in the Free French forces and for participation in the metropolitan clandestine Resistance during the German occupation of France in World War II. The medal was also awarded to 18 communities and territories, 21 military units, and to 15 other organizations including convents, high schools, and hospitals that particularly distinguished themselves.
– FFI badge, manufacturer marked by Artur Bertrand and serial numbered 75,379.
– FFI sleeve insignia, embroidered on an inverted blue wool triangle, with snap fasteners sewn to the corners on the reverse.
– S small, diamond shaped FFI Cross of Lorraine embroidered patch.
– A pin back Cross of Lorraine insignia of the FFI.
– A small printed document, approximately 2 3/4 by 4 inches, which is identified as an instruction sheet for completing forged employment certificates.
– A small map of Paris, about 5 1/4 by 7 inches in size.
– Two pieces of currency. One is a 1942 dated 5 Franc note from the Bank of Algeria. The other is an Allied Military Currency 1944 series 2 Franc note.
– A photograph, 4 by 5 1/2 inches, of an individual in a trench coat and visor cap. On the back is the handwritten notation “Jean” and what may be a last name, along with the date of “1943”.
All of the items are in very good condition.
