WWII Era 903rd Field Artillery Battalion Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot Unit Flag 3 Feet by 4 Feet

$1,100.00

The flag is a red silk blend used during World War II and immediately thereafter. It is double sided and superbly embroidered with the American eagle and the distinctive unit insignia of the battalion. The flag measures 3 feet by 4 feet in size (exclusive of fringe), which was the size prescribed by Army regulations for such a unit flag. The flag is in excellent condition. There is a separation of the red silk that is approximately 2 inches long on the lower corner of the hoist edge of the flag, but the flag is otherwise without stains, holes, or tears. The colors are bright and vibrant. The flag pole sleeve on the hoist edge contains leather tabs for attachment to a pole, as well as the Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot tag. The 903rd Field Artillery Battalion was a component of the 78th Infantry Division. It was equipped with the 105 mm howitzer and it fought in Europe and was credited with participation in the Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe campaigns.
