The blade is quite bright, showing some spots, scratches, and surface grime, but being in overall excellent condition. The ricasso is maker marked by the firm of Paul Seilheimer, with the leather washer in place at the top of the blade. The black Bakelite grip plates are without chips or cracks. The guard and the pommel show uncleaned patina as well as some speckling of the plated finish, with a spot of wear on the reverse side of the guard where the guard would have been in contact with the frog. The red wool insert remains in place in the rifle slot. The paint on the scabbard is approximately 70 percent intact.
