WWII Double Marked Erel German Army General’s Visor Cap
$8,500.00
The visor cap is constructed of the highest quality field gray wool, with a bottle green wool cap band. The cap body and the band are piped in a finely toned gold bullion, with a similarly toned gold bullion cap cord across the visor, secured by gilt pebbled buttons. The front center edge of the visor has a tiny chip. The peak displays an aluminum army eagle, while the cap band has an aluminum wreath with the unique vented cockade as used by the Erel firm. The cap is exceptionally clean, with some subtle spots and signs of age, and with a small and barely perceptible nip to the right rear overhang, just below the bullion piping. The interior of the cap retains the full leather sweatband, which exhibits perspiration soiling as well as the “Erel” name. The full silken lining is present, with the intact celluloid sweat shield. The sweat shield bears the designation of the Offizier Kleiderkasse in Berlin, with the further designation of “Sonderklasse Extra”. There is also a retained cardboard size tag with a size of “53-1/2”. The cap displays a splendid saddle shape and overall it makes an exceptional appearance.
