WWII Chinese Made Silk 14th Air Force First Version Patch / Maker Marked Kunmin

The patch is maker marked by the Chinese manufacturer on the reverse. The patch is the first version with the tiger moving towards the viewer’s right. The design was quickly revised because, in heraldry, movement to the viewer’s right is retreat. The revision reversed the position of the tiger so that it was moving towards the viewer’s left, a position of attack. The patch has one tiny hole in the blue field below the star, but the patch is unused. The patch does not fluoresce under ultra violet light.
