WWII 8th Air Force Pilot’s Ike Jacket with Royal Air Force Wings
$575.00
The olive drab wool Ike jacket has collar insignia for an officer of the Army Air Force, with a sewn on ribbon bar bearing the ribbons for the Distinguished Flying Cross, the Air Medal with four oak leaf clusters, and the European Campaign Medal with two campaign stars. Above the ribbon bar is a full size, sterling, pin back pilot wing that is on a “Combat Crew” blue backer that is stitched to the jacket. On the upper right side of the jacket is a 3 inch wide fully embroidered wing of a pilot of the Royal Air Force, reflecting the owner’s prior service with the RAF. Below the wing is a Presidential Unit Citation ribbon with an oak leaf cluster. On the left shoulder is a British made patch for the 8th Air Force. On the lower left sleeve are three overseas service striped for 18 months of service in the European Theater. The shoulders have bullion rank insignia of a Captain. There is a very small hole in the upper right sleeve, but otherwise the jacket is very clean and in excellent condition, making a very impressive appearance.
