WWII 4th Air Force Navigator Major’s Uniform

The uniform is comprised of the four pocket belted tunic and matching trousers. The tunic has the rank insignia of a Major on the shoulders, with a 4th Air Force shoulder patch, embroidered on wool, on the left shoulder. The lower left sleeve has three overseas service chevrons. On the upper left breast is a full size, three inch navigator wing, pin back, in sterling silver. Below the wing are ribbons reflecting combat service in the European Theater. Above the right breast pocket is the ribbon for the Presidential Unit Citation with oak leaf cluster. Although the ribbons reflect combat service in Europe, there is no unit patch on the right shoulder, nor is there and shadow or stitch pattern to suggest that there was ever a patch on that shoulder. The tunic is in excellent condition, as are the matching trousers.
