WWI Visor Cap of Field Marshall Duke Albrecht of Wurttemberg

The cap body is a high quality blue wool with a red wool cap band and red piping. The front of the cap displays officer quality cockades in both the national and Wurttemberg colors. The surface of the black patent leather visor shows typical fine age crazing. The interior is fully lined in white silk, which bears Albrecht’s royal monogram of the German gothic letter “A” surmounted by the imperial crown. The silk lining shows separations. The interior of the cap has a full white leather sweatband. The interior of the cap shows signs of wear. The exterior of the cap is exceptionally clean, without stains, tracking, or holes. Albrecht was awarded the Pour le Mérite in August 1915 and promoted to Generalfeldmarschall in August 1916. The new Army Group Duke Albrecht was placed under his command in February 1917, and he was responsible for the southern sector of the Western Front until the Armistice.
