WWI U.S. Marine Corps 8th Machine Gun Company, 5th Regiment, M1917 Combat Helmet

The front of the helmet displays a painted purple square with superimposed painted Indian head, above which is a screw back eagle, globe, and anchor insignia. The painted insignia shows age toning. The helmet retains most of its textured exterior finish, with some spots and abrasions. The dome of the helmet exhibits 3 elongated indentations. The interior retains the helmet liner pad, while the liner itself and chin strap are missing.
