WWI U.S. Army Medical Corps AEF Doctor’s Documents, Insignia, Photographs, and Medal Group

The group is comprised of documents, insignia, photographs, and the World War I Victory Medal of Doctor Henry Stanley Mitchell, who served in France during the war as an officer in the Army Medical Corps (and who served again in the army stateside during World War II. The group includes a pair of Dr. Mitchell’s dog tags; his World War I Victory Medal with “France” bar, showing minor wear to the ribbon; a World War I Medical Corps sweetheart pin; a pair of medical officer collar insignia; a single medical officer collar insignia, a single First Lieutenant ran bar; and three different “U.S.” officer collar insignia; a Third Army shoulder patch; an identification bracelet, engraved “H.S. Mitchell  1st Lt. M.C. U.S.A.” on the obverse, and “Oakland M.D.” on the reverse. The bracelet shows uncleaned patina and the chain is detached on one end. The group also includes a copy of the New Testament, a special military edition in a light green cloth cover, published in 1918 and bearing Dr. Mitchell’s name written inside. The group also includes a small book titled “Barrack Room Ballads” by Rudyard Kipling; a small book of daily inspirational quotes; a small leather wallet, embossed “H.S.M.”; and several post-war photographs of Dr. Mitchell or family members, as well as multiple personal cards and notes. Overall the group is in very good condition.
