WWI Named Purple Heart / Five Bar Victory Medal Group

The Purple Heart and Victory Medal awarded to Frank Ferneau for service in the 166th Infantry Regiment of the 42nd Division, wounded in action on July 15, 1918. The group consists of:
– Purple Heart decoration produced by Bailey, Banks & Biddle. Split brooch, numbered on the edge 58872, and officially hand engraved “Frank Ferneau”. The ribbon is faded and it has come loose from the brooch on one side in the back. The ribbon has separated almost completely across its width on the top edge of the brooch.
– Victory Medal with battle five clasps: Champagne-Marne; Aisne-Marne; St. Mihiel; Meuse- Argonne; and Defensive Sector. The medal is in overall very good used condition.
– Watch fob reflecting service in the 166th Infantry Regiment of the 42nd Division.
– 42nd Division multi piece wool shoulder patch.
The group is accompanied by a photocopy of Ferneau’s entry in the book “Ohio Soldiers, Sailors and Marines, World War, 1917-18”, which provides his service information and confirms his wound.
