WWI Marine Corps Visor Cap

The cap is constructed of forest green wool with a brown leather visor and chin strap. On the front crown of the cap is a screw back Marine Corps eagle, globe and anchor insignia. The surface of the visor exhibits spots and age crazing, as well as some scuffing of the visor edge. The body of the cap shows a few small scattered holes, and the cap is slightly misshapen from storage. The interior leather sweatband is intact, showing a bit of lost of stitching at the rear. The sweatband is stamped with the name “Burns, J.W.”, while there are initials written onto the lining of the crown, with the initials appearing to be “J.D.N.”.
