The exterior leather body of the helmet shows typical age crazing with some abrasions and spots of loss of the surface leather. The gilt brass front Prussian eagle helmet plate, as well as the gilt brass front visor edge, the fish scale chin strap, the spike, the spike base, and the rear spine all show an uncleaned patina over much retained fire gilt finish. The helmet retains the Prussian and the national colors cockades. The interior silk liner is somewhat tattered , while the leather sweatband is intact. The body of the helmet retains a fine shape and it makes a very good appearance.
