The body of the leather helmet is generally quite clean, showing age crazing and a a few small surface cracks, but the helmet exhibits a very good polish. The brass Prussian eagle front plate , the front visor edge, the spike, the spike base, and the rear spine all show patina. The helmet has a Prussian colors cockade as well as a replacement national colors cockade. The leather chin strap is a replacement. The leather liner is present. There is a stamp on the interior rear visor which appears to be “25R”, presumably reflecting use by the 25th Regiment. Overall the helmet is in very good condition.
