WWI Imperial German M1915 Field Artillery Hauptmann Field Gray Tunic with Medals

$2,950.00

The tunic is in overall excellent condition. It shows some wear and minor tracking, with two very small holes to the back of the collar, and a small hole in the top front which is not visible when the tunic is buttoned. The shoulder have sew-in boards for a Hauptmann of the Field Artillery. The left breast carries the 1914 Iron Cross First Class; the Wound Badge in black (both decorations worn through sets of award loops on the uniform); and a cloth example of the Johanniter Order, reflecting the officer’s status as a member of the Bailiwick of Brandenburg of the Chivalric Order of Saint John of the Hospital at Jerusalem, the German Protestant branch of the Knights Hospitaller. The front upper left area of the tunic has four lops for the wear of a long ribbon bar (the tunic has on it a four place ribbon bar which is likely a post-war addition, as it includes the ribbon of the Hindenburg Cross). The interior is fully lined in field gray cotton. The tunic is an impressive example of a decorated German combat officer’s uniform of the First World War.
