WWI Imperial German Artillery Soldier’s Militarpass, Photographs, and Unit History Group

The group includes of the World War I Militarpass of Dietrich Wilhelm Jansen, who served as a Kanonier and Corporal in the Imperial Artillery, including the 50th (3rd Baden) Field Artillery Regiment. The group also includes a small photograph of Jansen in uniform, two World War I photographic postcards, and a unit history of the regiment. The militar pass contains multiple entries which reflect that Jansen was born on October 20, 1892 in Aperberg in the state of Oldenburg. He was trained as a cannoneer in a mobile (horse-drawn) artillery battery for the “7.7 cm Feldkanone 96 n/A” (Field Gun 96 new Model), and that he was skilled with field telephones (communications), as well as the carbine rifle. He was also Trained on the Gewehr 98 rifle and the Mauser Pistol. He was awarded the Iron Cross Second class on January 27, 1918 and the Oldenburg Friedrich august Cross on February 3, 1918. The group further includes the unit history of the 50th (3rd Baden) Field Artillery Regiment. It is hardcover, published in 1929 and written by retired Lieutenant Colonel Maximilian von Zastrow. The volume is an account based on official war diaries and notes from fellow soldiers who fought in World War I, with photographs and maps which are inserted into a sleeve inside of the rear cover. Overall the group is in very good condition.
