WWI Imperial German Air Service Leutnant Uhlan Uniform with Tunic and Breeches

$3,800.00

The uniform is comprised of the field gray Uhlan tunic and breeches, with both the tunic and the breeches piped in golden yellow. The tunic has Imperial Air Service shoulder boards for the rank of Leutnant, with each shoulder board bearing the number “3”.  The ribbon of the 1914 Iron Cross, Second Class, is in the buttonhole of the front bib. The tunic and breeches show some spots and a bit of tracking, but generally the uniform is very clean and without holes or damage. The interior of the tunic shows wear, and there is some loss of stitching of the interior lining on one side. The interior bears a stamp of “U.G.I. 100”. The interior of the breeches have handwritten numbers and the number “43”. On the front upper right shoulder of the tunic a small wire bracket into which the upper corner of the bib is hooked has become detached. That small wire loop remains with the uniform inside of a pocket in the breeches. Also located inside of the breeches is an old card on which is written the name of the owner of the tunic, “Fl(ieger) Lt. Johann Vickers”, as well as a an annotation which has been crossed out. Overall the uniform makes a very good appearance.
