WWI Hampden Pocket Watch on Leather Wrist Strap

$175.00

During World War I leather straps were developed to allow officers to wear their pocket watches on their wrists, allowing them to check the time in the trenches without having to reach into a pocket beneath their coats and equipment. This watch was manufactured in 1916 by the Hampden Watch Company based upon its serial number. The watch is approximately 1-7/8 inches in diameter. The crown stem can be extended and the hands then moved. The stem winds and the watch is currently running. The leather strap shows use and wear, but it is complete and intact. Overall very good condition.
