WWI German Fighting Knife by Gottlieb Hammesfahr

The knife has an overall length in the scabbard of approximately 11-1/2 inches, with a blade length of approximately 5-3/4 inches. The blade shows spots and scratches,  surface dirt and the tip has been blunted. The ricasso is maker marked by the firm of Gottlieb Hammesfahr, together with “W” cypher and the mark of “Germany”. The wood grips plates show age, with some spots, scratches, and some tiny chips to the top edge on one time. The black scabbard paint is worn but it remains approximately 75 percent intact. The leather belt loop and grip strap show age, but they remain pliable and intact. Overall very good field used condition.
