WWI German Ersatz Sawback Bayonet with Frog and Portepee

The sawback blade bayonet is very similar in design to the Model 98/05 bayonet, but it is of all steel construction. The 14 inch blade is quite clean, showing spots and scratches, but without nicks, chips, or active rust. The blade has a crown proof mark on the spine. The steel crossguard has the “rabbit ears” muzzle ring. The pressed steel grip retains much of its finish. The pressed steel scabbard exhibits stains and signs of use in the field, but it is undamaged. The leather frogis somewhat dry with age, but it is intact. A fabric portepee remains tied around the frog. Overall the bayonet is in very good field used condition.
