WWI German Camouflaged M1916 Combat Helmet by Hermann Weissenburger & Company

$1,750.00

The helmet was camouflaged with areas of green, dark brown and light brown, and with those areas being separated by wide black borders in accordance with the regulations of 1918. The colors of the camouflage pattern exhibit age toning. The exterior paint shows scuffs and abrasions consistent with use in the field and there is a small indentation on the top left rear of the helmet. The three liner tongues are present on the interior, being dry and with one of the leather tongues bearing indistinct handwritten printing. None of the tongues have cloth bags, or “pillows”, behind them. The chin strap is also present, being dry and cracked but intact. The interior of the helmet shell is marked “W 66”, reflecting a size 66 shell manufactured by the firm of Hermann Weissenburger & Company of Stuttgart-Cannstatt . Overall very good field used condition.
