WWI French General’s Horizon Blue Uniform
$1,250.00
A really splendid uniform of World War I, being the tunic and matching breeches of a General in the French Army.
The uniform was tailor made, and the tunic has the tailor label in the collar. The jacket and breeches are of wool in the “Horizon Blue” color, with the breeches having two dark stripes down the outside of each leg. The original laces remain in the bottoms of the legs. On the collar of the tunic can be seen the outlines of two stars on each side. In going through the pockets there were found three small gold metal stars which match exactly the outlines on the collar and which were obviously at one time sewn to the collar (so one star has been lost to time). The uniform is rather dirty, but this was actually a fortunate thing, since the surface dirt preserved the traces of the impressions left by the stars. The uniform jacket has the special gilt buttons worn by French Generals. The jacket also has two integral belt loops. The adjustment buckle on the back of the breeches is marked “Paris”. Aside from the surface dust, the uniform is in extremely fine condition. It needs a good cleaning, but otherwise the set of tunic and breeches are in wonderful condition.
