WWI French Army Artillery Captain’s Kepi

The artillery Captain’s kepi is constructed with a red wool top and a black wool cap band, with toned gold officer braid on the top and around the circumference of the cap. The front of the cap displays a toned gold bullion grenade emblem above a gold tape officer chin strap. The surface of the black leather visor shows typical age crazing. The body of the cap as well as the cap band exhibit surface soiling as well as tracking, but the kepi makes a very good appearance. The full interior leather sweatband is intact, as is the red silk lining, which bears indistinct size and retailer stamp.
