WWI Army Ambulance Service Veteran Watch Fob

$75.00

A large gilt watch fob on a leather strap. The fob is approximately 1 1/2 inches in diameter, and was manufactured by the Whitehead & Hoag company. The fob features the designation at the top of “U.S.A.A.C.S.” for U.S. Army Ambulance Corps Service, an Army unit that was based at Camp Crane in Allentown, Pennsylvania and which trained ambulance drivers to serve with the French and Italian armies. The fob depicts an ambulance being driven while under fire. Below the ambulance are representations of the Ambulance corps rooster shoulder patch, a Medical Corps “Ambulance” insignia, and the lion of St. Mark patch worn by both the members of the 332nd Infantry Regiment and the Ambulance Service on the Italian Front. There is some wear to the fob, primarily on the reverse, but overall it is in excellent condition.
