WWI 37th Division Musician Medals, Diary and Insignia Group

The group is comprised of the medals and insignia of Clarence Harmon Fahien, a musician in the AEF with the 37th Division. The group includes the U.S. Army Mexican Border Service Medal, split brooch suspension, the edge numbered “35189”. The medal shows wear to the finish, while the ribbon is faded but intact. The World War I Victory Medal, full wrap brooch suspension, bears the clasps “Champagne-Marne”; “Aisne-Marne”; “Oisne-Aisne”; and “Defensive Sector”. Also with the group is the Indiana National Guard Medal for service on the Mexican border. The group includes insignia, being a 37th Division shoulder patch, removed from a uniform; discharge and overseas service chevrons, removed from a uniform; the rank chevron of a Musician Private First Class; and a “U.S.” officer collar insignia. The group further includes Private Fahien’s handwritten diary, which begins in June of 1918 and continues into December. The group also includes a small unit photograph of musicians, approximately 2-5/8 inches by 4 inches. Overall the group is in very good condition.
