WWI 28th Division Type 5 Experimental Combat Helmet

The helmet exterior retains approximately 95 percent of the painted, textured finish. The right side of the helmet bears the painted red keystone of the 28th Division, suggesting that this was one of the Type 5 helmets that was used in the field in France as a trial of the helmet’s functionality. The liner and the chin strap are gone, although the interior chin strap bales remain present. The helmet has a very small hole in the top center.
